Faded Alarms

The clock screamed its warning, but I drifted too deep,

wrapped in the covers, I clung to my sleep.

Outside the world hustled, the dawn painted gray,

while dreams wrapped around me like cotton—my stay.

I missed the whole morning, my chance to break free,

lost in a fog that would never let me see.

The day's weight piled on, but I snoozed through the fight,

clocks ticking away, as my future took flight.

The hum of my thoughts turned to murmurs of shame,

shaking out the silence, I can’t blame the game.

I’ll wake up tomorrow, I promise myself,

but today, I laid low, like dust on a shelf.
