Land of Dreams

In half-sleep, I linger, a world stretched wide,

my friend shows a postcard, their joy can’t hide.

A glimpse of mountains, far off in the blue,

I ache for the stories of places so new.

Each photo is tempting, a life made of sun,

a land of bright whispers where adventure begun.

But here in the comfort of shadows I stand,

a map of longing sketched deep in my hand.

I’ve never tread paths in that foreign delight,

but the dreams keep me awake well into the night.

Someday I’ll venture where horizons expand,

a place I call home in this strange, distant land.
