Bittersweet Victories

Standing on pavement, adrenaline surged high,

a fight was won, yet I ask, oh why?

The thrill of the win—bittersweet on my tongue,

tasting victory, but feeling so wronged.

What’s the worth of a battle that splits me in two,

a friend’s silent gaze, a friendship askew?

I can see it now, the cost of this clash,

breathless with triumph, but hearts turn to ash.

Was my pride worth the rift? What comes next, I can’t tell,

with echoes of conflict ringing like a bell.

A bittersweet anthem of triumph and grief,

dancing on edges—too sharp for relief.
