I watched the last train pull away into night

I watched the last train pull away into night,

as I sat on a bench, my heart fluttered light.

Surrounded by silence, workers stacked chairs,

and I played at freedom, pretending my cares.

The dimmed lights flickered, time stretched in between,

my choices now mine, though they feel all unseen.

They cleared out the station, the rhythm still danced,

I chuckled in loneliness, my fate not yet chanced.

The night curled around me, a cloak worn like pride,

as I missed my escape, thoughts tangled inside.

What choice can it be if it's a choice I don’t own?

I’m lost in the stillness, but feel less alone.
