Beauty in Filth

I step in the puddle, my shoes make a splash,

colorful swirls form with an elegant crash.

Beneath city grime, a strange beauty lays bare,

reflecting my heart in the chaos of air.

The oil slicks glimmer, a riotous dance,

yellows and blues caught in a fleeting glance.

What lies underneath this reflection of pain?

I question the beauty trapped deep in disdain.

Maybe I’m searching for something profound,

in moments where dirt and bright colors are found.

Each ripple and shimmer reminds me to cope,

there’s grace in the grime when the world feels like hope.
