Watchful Indifference

A feather fell from the weight of the breeze,

floating down gently, defying the trees.

I stood, captivated, rooted to the ground,

as it danced through the air, soft as a sigh,

a moment suspended, as time flickered by.

My friend said I’m stuck, and maybe they’re right,

watching that feather drift light into night,

no reaching, no catching, just leaving it be,

this feather’s descent—a mirror to me.
