Tangled Words

The taste of salt clings, a meal left untouched,

as chatter surrounds me, I retreat—feel so clutched.

Voices overlap, like a wave crashing in,

but I’m muted inside, where the chaos begins.

Each bite stays half-swallowed, and no words escape,

the moments I’m silenced feel like a drape.

I watch the exchanges, the laughter unfurl,

while my tongue sits heavy, wrapped tight in a swirl.

What do I want to say? The question spins round,

a dance of connections where I’m nowhere found.

But in this gathering’s heat, I quietly sigh,

with every unspoken, a piece of me dies.
