Corroded Power

The drawer groaned open.

Rubber bands, tangled.

Paper clips, bent.

A dead battery, green.

Small things, waiting.

For a purpose that never came.

Or one that passed.

A forgotten name.

That dull bloom on the metal.

Silent history.

No spark left.

Just debris.
