Zinc Skin

Corrugated sheet.

Dull silver, rain-beaded.

Holds its shape.

The ground, wet earth.

A thin orange smear

where metal meets soil.

Rust, a soft warning,

stopped at the edge

of the zinc skin.

It breathes,

this metal shell.

A quiet fight.
