Heavy Wishes

Murky water holds

a dull shine.

Pennies, quarters,

a flat, brown line.

Algae spreads, a thin

green film.

Each copper disc, a small

lost realm.

Weighted down by what

they meant to be.

Just metal, turning dark,

for all to see.
