Breath Held, Then Gone

Outside the cafe,

against the brick wall,

a slow breath pushed out.

Saw it rise, then fall.

Perfect O.

Grey against the grey sky.

Held its shape,

then, a silent goodbye.

Unwound itself

into nothing.

A brief, meticulous thing.

Brief offering.
