Sidewalk Mark

Ahead, a sudden

clearing. A sharp wet sound.

Then a small, bright thing

on the ground.

It caught the light.

A silver sheen, then dulling fast.

A human signature,

meant not to last.

Flattening. Thinning.

Already one edge blurring to gray.

Just a momentary map

of a brief way.
