Thimble Collection

On velvet, small,

the porcelain thimbles stand.

A flower chipped,

a faded painted land.

Tiny, useless things.

She guarded them, dust

on their miniature crowns.

A strange trust.

What did she see?

A memory of a stitch?

Or just the smallness,

an impossible niche?
