Tangled Wire

The shadows stretch,

lean, distorted now.

That rusted barb, a threat

against the evening bough.


A blue thread, caught,

a kite string, long lost.

A small battle fought,

at untold cost.


It gleams, then fades,

a forgotten line.

Through wire-mesh grades,

not yours, nor mine.
