A pinky promise

In summer’s glow, two hands entwined,
a pinky promise, a bond designed.
The laughter floated, like dust in light,
“Always together,” we whispered, tight.
Yet years unfurled, like petals turned brown,
as seasons shifted, and we wore our frowns.
Your wedding day brought memories anew,
I stood in silence, our promise askew.
Faded photographs of that childhood vow,
tangled in whispers, where are we now?
Grass beneath us, sunlight above,
a broken bond wrapped in the warmth of love.
