Fueling Old Dreams

The scent of gasoline hung heavy in air,

as I filled up the tank, memories laid bare.

Fumes that spun dreams of a nervous first drive,

the thrill and the terror, I felt so alive.

Each drop that spilled felt like time unwound,

as I learned to navigate life’s uneven ground.

In the parking lot’s shadows, my heart danced with fear,

those moments of freedom still lingered so near.
