Imperfect Repairs

I squeezed the caulk, it squirted out wide,

like the mess in my heart that I try to hide.

Every crack in the wall, a wound in my soul,

trying to fix what feels far from whole.

I patched up the seams, but the gaps still remain,

as I struggle to hold back the swell of the rain.

Each glob of repair, a testament to fight,

a reminder that sometimes we lose in the night.
