A Sudden Shift

My knee buckled today, a reminder, so cruel,

a slip on the sidewalk, feeling the fool.

Once strong and defiant, now fragile, unsure,

a shift in the body that echoes, demure.

In a moment I stumbled, a flash of the past,

memory of youth, how long could it last?

A gasp caught my breath, in panic I fall,

a fleeting reminder, I’m human, after all.
