Crossing Oceans

In a box of dust, her papers lie still,

weight of a journey, a heart full of will.

I see her face in a photograph faded,

a moment of hope when futures were traded.

News from the borders, families torn,

a fresh wave of heartache, the fabric worn.

They crossed oceans, they weathered the storm,

yet here I am, still learning their form.
