Vermillion

I pulled to the side as the sky bled red,

the horizon spilled open, all shadows unsaid.

A moment of glory, my heart in full bloom,

a tender reminder that warmth chases gloom.

In the chill of the evening, that fire broke through,

like memories waking, a vibrant debut.

I breathed in the color, so vivid, so bright,

a fleeting reminder of life’s simple light.
