The weight of waiting

The phone sits heavy, a stone in my lap,

I stare at the screen, the world feels a trap.

Dark clouds gather, the evening grows long,

a silence stretches like a note without song.

Each second tick-tocks, an echo in air,

I wonder if you even remember I care.

Raindrops start falling, a solitary sound,

a single drop poised, a message unbound.
