Heavy Hearts

In a corner booth, voices tremble,
a woman cries, her heart heavy with mercy,
every word a weight in the air,
a flicker of candlelight dances,
shadows deepen on the wall,
revealing truths left unspoken.
How hard is it to give, to open,
when the soul carries scars,
when kindness feels like a forgotten art,
draped in the silk of daily struggle?
I watch, caught in the stillness,
her plea for compassion,
and I question my own hands,
how often they clasp tight,
how seldom they reach out.
What if mercy was the thread
that could bind us all together?
