Relentless Time

This new clock ticks like a warning bell,
each second dropping, heavy as stones,
its hands swing, casting shadows, thickening
the space around me, choking on stillness—
every glance toward it a sharp reminder,
a countdown I didn't sign up for,
sharp and unforgiving like the boss’s glare,
in meetings where dreams and seconds collide,
my thoughts slipping through the cracks of minutes.
A pendulum of worry, swinging to and fro,
every tick a question, a moment missed,
like time laughing at my scattered focus,
relentless, unyielding, refusing to pause,
so I sit, hands folded, my heart races slow,
reminding me that life moves,
regardless of what I want it to be.
