A Stairwell

In the stairwell’s embrace, I feel whispers collide,

echoes of laughter, of hearts opened wide.

The scuffed-painted walls hold our histories there,

while shadows of moments hang thick in the air.

Every footstep I take has its purpose concealed,

a countdown of stories, secrets revealed.

I push past the silence, where love used to bloom,

but now there’s just longing that fills up the room.
