The Sandwich

Across the table in the bustling café,

a stranger offers me their care—

a sandwich wrapped in crinkly paper,

hands slightly trembling with grace.

It’s an odd exchange, a shared moment,

flavors mingling with the weight of kindness,

its mustard stained, a tiny story etched,

with crusty edges, memories waiting to bloom.

Each bite releases a gust of warmth,

and I forget the chaos, the noise,

how often does one receive,

without a thought of what to give back?

The bread crumbles under tender embrace,

its simplicity a soft reminder,

that life, in its hurried pace,

still finds room for such gifts.
