Weight and Flight

I catch myself slipping down the sidewalk,

suddenly aware of the world’s pull,

each footfall weighted by unspoken thoughts—

watching a child tumble and laugh,

gravity a playful tug,

a force unseen yet omnipresent.

They leap, their laughter soaring,

as if to defy the ground beneath,

while I feel anchored,

every moment a reminder of the weight

that holds us down—

a heart tethered to the earth.

Yet in the balance, there’s a beauty,

a dance of rise and fall,

and in the midst of stumbling,

we learn to find our flight,

like leaves caught in a gentle breeze—

upward, always upward.
