Today my body rebelled in the worst kind of way

Today, my body rebelled in the worst kind of way,

a sneeze in an interview, like thunder at play.

Panic exploded, the silence grew thick,

as I crumpled a tissue, felt trapped by the tick.

Awkwardness gathered, a crowd in my chest,

yet laughter erupted, a mockery’s jest.

My body betrayed me, a traitor so cruel,

leaving me stammering, awkward and the fool.

I could feel the heat rise, a blush creeping in,

as I wondered what happened to graceful, to kin.

How unruly this vessel, this skin that I wear,

for moments of kindness are swallowed in air.
