Stillness behind glass

A bird caught mid-flight,

feathers frozen, half spread,

fixed in cracked velvet light.

Glass reflects my breath,

a stale coldness of old wood

and dust settled like quiet guilt.

Its eyes stare past me,

nothing, everything,

a caught breath held

in the silence of stillness.
