Permeable

The drop hit the bridge of my nose in the dark.

It’s lukewarm, tasting of dust and old wood.

I promised to fix the flashing back in March.

Now there’s a circle on the plaster above the bed,

a brown, unblinking eye watching me fail.

The paint is starting to peel.
