Sallow

The frame came down and left a ghost behind.

The wall is pale where the sun couldn't find

the cheap beige paint or the rent I owe.

This room has seen everyone come and go.

The scotch tape is yellow, a jaundiced old stain.

It’s hard to breathe in the heat.
