The Silent Track

I was telling a story about the old farm

and I realized the sound had lost all its charm.

I can see his hands moving, the way that he stood,

but the voice is a ghost that’s gone for good.


I put on the video, the colors are blurred.

He’s laughing at something, but nothing is heard.

Just the grain of the film, the hiss of the black,

and a man on a screen who won't talk back.
