Missing Circuit

The breaker box gave out with a final pop.

I stood in the hallway, letting the darkness drop.

I reached for a bulb but felt the cold wall,

and realized I couldn't name the face at all.

In the space where the picture had used to be,

was a rectangle of paper, pale and lonely.

The house is a map I no longer can read,

staring at shapes I no longer need.
