Public Unraveling

In the café’s glow, laughter erupts,

as I taste metal, the blood disrupts.

A rush of warmth, the stares collide,

my world shrinks down, and I want to hide.

Napkin crammed against my nose,

everyone watching, this fragile pose.

Is it shock, or just careless glee?

The way life bends, so cruelly free.

I laugh it off, as crimson drops fall,

in that crowded space, I feel so small.

A slip of the heart, a slip of control,

all eyes on me, all noise in my soul.
