Soft Reminders

In a thrift store corner, I found it tucked tight,
a velvet jacket, faded and light.
Running my fingers through memories worn,
remnants of laughter, of passions forlorn.
Each inch a story, a whisper of skin,
a soft touch of love that once had begun.
Stains of the past, the echoes of dreams,
wrapped in this fabric, the silence redeems.
I wear it like armor, a shield from the cold,
this velvet reminder of moments retold.
But fabric can’t hold all that time tries to mend,
this softness a comfort, but never the end.
