Words Unspoken

I practiced the words, sweet yet hollow,
but when it mattered, I chose not to follow.
My thumb hovered, heart racing with dread,
those unsent messages now linger instead.
A smile in place, while truth held its breath,
my thoughts tangled tight, as silence felt deaf.
Each word was a promise, now lost in the haze,
where moments collide in unspoken malaise.
What if I’d spoken, what would have changed?
Life’s aching paths, so tightly arranged.
Now echoes of voices hang heavy in air,
a text left unread, a weight that I bear.
