Expired Plastic

Pulled out my wallet,

for a card to pay.

This faded plastic thing

fell out and went astray.

Lay on the counter, dull and bent,

barcode blurred with years of grime.

What good was it? My time was spent

not reading, no, not this time.

Just another piece of useless junk,

carried around for no damn reason.

A promise of knowledge, now sunk.

Just another expired season.
