Lining

The regional manager is talking about growth.

I am thinking about the horsehair

stabbing my carotid.

This blazer was six dollars at the church sale.

It smells like mothballs and a stranger’s

long-forgotten Sunday.

The polyester lining is a sweat-trap.

I shift in the swivel chair,

letting the itch remind me

that I am still made of skin.
