Under the Table

Old gum stuck to the wood, layered with dust,

depths of our lives hidden beneath layers of trust.

A child’s toy rolls away, bright in its fall,

while memories linger, unnoticed by all.

The table wobbles, a metaphor clear,

everyone’s stories converging right here.

Concealed conversations, the crumbs of our meals,

hidden beneath, where the heartache reveals.
