The Number That Won't Shift

I step on the cold glass screen,

numbers blink back — the same, unyielding.

Flicker. Blink. A stubborn light

that mocks slow unraveling.

My breath catches, caught in digits,

a silent judge with no mercy.

I step off, the floor greets my weight,

a quiet reminder, still the same.
