The No That Settled Like Dust

I said could you help — the words still hung
in the thin walls before the door slammed shut.
No sound but the lock clicking tight,
a sudden silence like spilled salt on the floor.
That no settled slow,
like dust on the windowsill I never wipe.
I stood there, holding the weight of my ask,
the box forgotten, but heavy like regret.
