The Weight You Hang On

I grabbed the towel, soaked and heavy,
a sack of water dragging down my arm.
It pulls like old mistakes, thick and slow,
tugging hard at the hooks that hold.
Drips fall slow, pooling like regrets
on cold tile, slick and stubborn.
Fingers numb, I carry it anyway,
a weight I didn’t ask for but can’t shed.
