Between the Links

Steel threads, cold and taut,

a cage woven in silver grids.

A cat slips under—paused,

caught between the metal ribs.

Rust eats a jagged edge,

shadows crack the concrete floor.

Two worlds humming, split,

lined by every rusted pore.

Freedom waits just beyond

these tiny prisons I trace,

tangled in wire and time,

held fast by their cold embrace.
