The Questions That Haunt Us

Every few months, like clockwork I find,

a question that dances just out of my mind.

What is the thing I can’t seem to retain?

a flicker of thought that returns like a stain.

A glow from the screen casts shadows on me,

as I type in the words, trying to be free.

It slips through my fingers, like sand in a glass,

a haunting reminder of knowledge I pass.
