Rediscovering Motion

Sunlight spilled in, warmth gripped my skin,

my body awake, as if it learned to begin.

I danced through the room, limbs heavy with weight,

sweat glistening soft, like a chance to escape.

Each stretch and each twist brought a sigh of release,

a body reclaimed, a moment of peace.

How strange it feels, to feel like I belong,

to hear my own heartbeat, the pulse of a song.
