Unquenchable

Awake at night, the craving coils,

a fire flickering in my throat,

each breath a reminder—

it's not just water that I thirst for.

Memories of you, words whispered soft,

carved deep like echoes in the dark,

a longing that no glass can fill,

a mirage, barely wetting the parched ground.

Even the rain outside is bitter,

falling into silence, where love once dwelled,

drops unable to satisfy,

only leaving me thirstier still.
