Unwanted Guests

On my walk home, a clingy surprise,

Something sticky persists, it never complies.

I lift my foot, squint at the plight,

A reminder of moments I wish to set right.

It glues me to places, I didn’t intend,

As if memories linger, unable to bend.

A forgotten piece of gum stuck to my sole,

Dragging the past, an unwelcome toll.
