Tangled Relations

A message blinked in the corner of my screen,

‘Hey, I’m your sister, let’s catch up,’ it read,

each word a fragile thread pulling at history,

a tapestry woven in silence, now unraveling.

I sip my half-cold coffee, consider the weight,

a conversation waiting for words to emerge,

a cold cup, untouched, holding what might be.

I think of all that we lost, all that we gain,

as I stare at a life I never wanted,

wrapped in layers of what-ifs and maybe, somehow.
