Barefoot Reflections

The sun slips behind the clouds, fading light,
grass cool and damp, beneath my feet bare,
lost in thoughts of summers, lazy delight,
hours passing like whispers in warm, sunlit air.
Memories unfold like the way that it feels,
each blade pressing soft, damp against my skin,
laughter floating back, as the world softly peels,
we chased after fireflies, wild with our grin.
In this moment, the weight lifts, the day wanes,
every care blurs at the edges, a shimmering blur,
standing here now, I forget all the chains,
the feel of the earth can finally confer.
