The sun blares down grass shrivels in heat

The sun blares down, grass shrivels in heat,

I’m tugging at hoses, feeling defeat.

Then with a sputter, a roar from the ground,

Sprinkler arms swinging, I’m drenched all around.

Laundry hangs limp, now a waterlogged mess,

Moments collide, laughter turning to stress.

Water droplets scatter, glistening bright,

A dance of surprise in the midday light.
