The Opening

“Open,” they say, my heart catches breath,

this moment of stillness, the edge of my depth.

Bright light overhead, it pierces my mind,

weighing all worries, the silence unkind.

Metal tools glint in a sterile embrace,

I think of the weight that this moment must place.

Anxiety buzzes, a tune in the air,

yet hope lingers softly, just waiting to care.
